The Mission

JD Quarter Horses was founded on the passion and appreciation for the Quarter Horse. I knew exactly what I wanted this breeding program to represent and the kind of horses I wanted to produce.

The vision behind JD Quarter Horses was to bring back the old school cow horse bloodlines that built the American Quarter Horse that is loved and known today. Bringing back this foundation allows the flexibility to cross my own mares with a wide variety of outside stallions as well as my own stallions.

Every breeding is carefully planned with one goal in mind, to produce quality horses with the mind, conformation, and ability to become a performer in or outside of the arena. I believe great horses begin long before they enter the arena, from selecting proven bloodlines to raising each foal in the high desert of Lakeview, Oregon, the focus is on giving every horse the opportunity to reach its full potential.

The program wouldn’t be what it is without the band of mare power I have built over the years, and I would easily argue it as the cornerstone of my program. Leading that band are proven performers Miss Dual Smartee ("Smarty") and TivitosAtTheGoGoBar ("Katy"), both California Circuit Finals Barrel Racing Champions, earners of over a quarter of a million dollars and accomplished professional rodeo performers. Their athletic ability, proven performance records, and exceptional nature represent the qualities I strive to pass on to every foal I raise.

Then there was the purchase of Red Tachita Doc, a 2009 King Ranch bred stallion whose pedigree reflects generations of proven ranch and performance horses known for their athleticism, and cow sense. As an outcross to today's popular performance pedigrees, Red Tachita Doc offers breeders the opportunity to preserve the qualities that made the American Quarter Horse legendary while also offering breeders the opportunity to cross any of their mares with him, creating endless opportunities to thoughtfully matched pedigrees in the hopes of producing versatile horses capable of succeeding in ranch work, roping, cow horse events, and beyond.

With the purchase of Red Tachita Doc the hope is to preserve generations of proven performance bloodlines. Each cross is thoughtfully planned to produce horses with the balance of speed, athleticism, trainability, and sound minds that today's horsemen and competitors’ demand.

At JD Quarter Horses, I believe the responsibility extends beyond producing quality foals. I am committed to building lasting relationships with clients, operating with honesty and transparency, and providing the support needed throughout the breeding process. Whether a horse's future lies on a working ranch, in the roping pen, going down the fence, or simply as a trusted partner, the mission remains the same, to raise exceptional Quarter Horses that are bred, built and raised with the purpose to perform, and last.

Raising your future.
